Majorly in Love with Minor History

The aesthetic of minor history leather goods is right up our alley: clean lines, fine quality and terribly chic. these modern accessories will be your favorites for years to come, and quite possibly, for generations to come.

These handbags, clutches and small goods reign supreme at The Trove, with interesting details like hand painted geometric designs and perforation. Minor History embodies timeless design with a modern edge and its pared-down silhouettes are the perfect accent to virtually all ensembles.

The name Minor History evokes our aesthetic—which is both serious and playful—as well as our inspiration. The ephemera we carry around in our bags, purses, and wallets eventually become a part of our lives, as do the bags, purses and wallets themselves. They travel with us, and share our experiences. The materials comprising each bag—bespoke leather and pure, un-lacquered brass—also naturally change and take on a patina over time. There is and will be history, however minor, in every piece.

Sister Act

Sisters are different flowers from the same garden.

The Trove was born out of friendship and a mutual passion for creating and sharing beautiful things. We have a deep love for our little slice of Roanoke and the town's oh-so-charming Main Street. We wax poetically about our enchanting barn and live for the Summer Friday night street fairs that bring hundreds of people to #thenoke. If you'd like to read more on our fondness for Roanoke, check out our Love Letter to Roanoke from September 2015.

All good things must grow and thus our latest development came after a few meetings with another friend, Libby Ash. We are simply overjoyed about the opening of our sister store, The FIND, located within the sparkling Ash Skyline Plaza. We're honored to be among the burgeoning lifestyle scene of the great city of Fort Wayne and are excited to see what else is in store for its continued growth. To read more about The FIND's origin story, take a peek at its brand spanking new website.

Finally, we are absolutely tickled about our Western expansion with The Trove West in Big Sky, Montana! We're over the moon for Trovester Kate and her plans to supply her beloved Big Sky with the chicest goods around.

Please join us at The FIND for our Grand Opening on June 1st! And, once we know the opening date for our new digs in Big Sky, we'll let you know so you can make travel arrangements. We just know you won't want to miss a thing!

Imaginary Authors

Fragrance is always a very personal purchase. Certain notes can sing to your soul while others fall flat. Blending various notes to create unique fragrances that evoke emotion and captivate the senses takes immense knowledge and expert skill so it's not often we run across an indie perfume brand that hits the notes perfectly. That pun was intended, by the way...

Out of Portland, Oregon comes Imaginary Authors, a niche line for women and men with fragrances that are complex and layered, just like a favorite novel. The lines boasts 11 fragrances, each with evocative names and poetic stories that go along with them. We love spending time on their website because reading about each unique fragrance feels like into tucking into a good book.

One of our favorites is Yesterday Haze, which contains notes of fig, iris, cream tonka, tree bark, walnut bitters and orchard dust. Says the website:

"The seductive, dreamlike quality of this scent works like a magnet. Use it liberally during the day and, as it lingers into night, watch as those around you are lured into your sphere."

Sounds good to us!

Word to Your Mother

With Mother's Day on the brain, we Trovesters recently enjoyed a lively email thread where we shared some of the wisdom we've gained as well as a few funny stories we've collected along the way. Motherhood is no joke but thankfully, there's much comic relief for those of us who are lucky enough to know the highs and lows of parenting.

Here's a little glimpse into the convo from our most recent emails...

Some of our all-time favorite parental sayings are quotes from movies. Our kids are just now catching on:
* Be the ball.
* You can do it or you can do it with dignity.
* Are you for goodness or for badness?
* I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Vitamin D and Saline Spray cure most things.

Use the “real” words with your kids.

Example: I’m pregnant with my son, taking my 5 year old to her pediatrician appointment.
Doctor: So your mommy has a baby in her tummy. Her reply, said with great contempt: The baby is in her uterus!

I was so proud.

And then there's this gem, taken from the daughter of a Trovester:

An important skill that my mom taught me early on was the ability to laugh at myself. The world is a lighter place if you can joke (and take a joke) with the people you meet along the way. Of course my mom always led by example. She embarrassed herself on a monthly basis- whether it was having a thong fall out from her pant leg in the airport security line or accidentally flashing the guests at a Halloween party when her costume malfunctioned. In these moments however, my mom hardly even blushed, but rather absorbed these situations so that she could later share them with her friends and family over a glass of wine. No wonder she has always been popular.

Spring Style Edit

Spring 2016 is all about supple leathers, natural tones and luxurious fabrics in soft silhouettes for the ultimate in comfort and ease but without sacrificing style. It's boho-chic with a clean, modern twist and we couldn't be happier about what we have in store for you at The Trove. Gauzy tunics pair perfectly with well-worn, well-loved denim. Burnished accessories sparkle against fringed handbags and leather It-Girl sandals that work for day or night. Keep hair and makeup simple, with an emphasis on glowing skin (we can help in that department, too) and you're good to go for a stylish, carefree Spring in the Heartland!

Hug Your Mother

Much has been said about mothers. We all have one. Some of us are one. A mother, whether biological or chosen, is a complex creature to be celebrated with much festivity! She should be showered with hugs and kisses, festooned with jewels and given a bottomless goblet of wine. She deserves it and you know it. And while she's probably worthy of this treatment daily, it's at least customary to shout your love from the rooftops on one particular day each May. This is where we come in. We Trovesters know just what your mother wants this year. We know because we filled the store with pieces WE want and 90% of us Trovesters are mothers. Start with a card (we're partial to the one below) and add on from there with a thoughtful piece of delicate jewelry, something sweet like local honey or a luxuriously soft wrap that feels like a hug.

We have so much good stuff in store, come shop The Trove for the fabulous, dedicated, loving mothers in your life!

Spring Jewels

If you've ever been inside The Trove, then you know just how much we adore jewelry. We line our shelves with unique pieces for every esthetic because we believe it's jewelry that makes a good ensemble great. Whether for daily wear or an elegant night out, jewelry is the icing on the cake that can make jeans and a t shirt dinner worthy. From the popular (as in, we can't keep them in stock) lightweight, leather leaf earrings that make a big statement to Indiana state pendant necklaces that show your Hoosier pride, our latest, glittering haul of bijoux hits the mark for Spring 2016.

Come shop The Trove for unique jewels and gems, handcrafted by independent artisans and handpicked for you.

The S'well bottle hits the spot not only for it's polished silhouette but because it keeps hot liquids hot and cold liquids cold for amazing lengths of time. And because we can fit a whole bottle of wine in the 25 ounce size.

We also really love to accessorize our accessories so we simply adore A + D Monogram Designs for their durable, custom vinyl decals. Choose colors, sizes and fonts to create bespoke monograms or phrases that adhere to the bottle, ensuring your S'well stands out from the crowd!
