Trunk Show Treasures

We Trovesters love a good trunk show because these special, fun events allow us to share even more greatness with our priceless customers. While we typically like to space them out over the calendar, in the spirit of elegant excess, we decided to gather some of the most chic jewelry brands in all the land to help us celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of The Trove! And because we just adore all of you, here's a sneak peek at just some of the baubles you'll find in store.

Come clink glasses with us on November 5th! Click here for more details about our Anniversary Happy Hour Bash!

A Love Letter to Roanoke

Hometown pride? We've got it. Roanoke is a pretty special place and it just keeps getting better and better. We're blissfully happy to be part of such a wonderful and charming community. With each new business, and family for that matter, that decides to put down roots here, our tiny town gets an immeasurable boost.

We Trovesters felt the true spirit of Roanoke and its people this summer after a crazy storm blew through town and left many streets, businesses and homes flooded. In the storm's wake, shop owners and friends like Valerie Powers, of Powers of One yoga studio, the Lions Club and so many others (who had their own catastrophes to deal with) strapped on mud boots and work gloves and tirelessly worked throughout the day to bail out their neighbors. Others offered food, water, fans (ahem, Angie Chafee!) as well as emotional support. It's that small town charm and family feel that gives Roanoke its appeal, even as the town continues to grow. This flood made us Trovesters proud to be part of Roanoke and its group of merchants.

Our beloved barn suffered a bit of damage in this Summer's flood but we were back up and running in no time, thanks to so many friends and neighbors.

Take a walk down Main Street and you'll see pretty, seasonal flower baskets, Grandpa and Grandma Sue selling their pies and noodles, antique shops filled with vintage curiosities and boutiques that bring so much style to our little slice of Indiana. And if you're hungry? You're in such luck! Lunch options have expanded with the new (and stunningly gorgeous) location of La Dolce Vita, now offering gourmet lunches on Wednesdays. The Emporium has added new salads and other vegetarian options while the Village Inn, known for hearty American pub fare, got an interior makeover. Still want to channel Summer? Moose & Mollies' tasty gelato will do the trick. The latest delicious biz on the block is Proper Pastry which offers pretty little French macarons, freshly baked croissants, breads, cupcakes and savory baked goods.

We could go on and on about how great #thenoke is but why don't you just come spend a day and see for yourself? There are so many great events each season in Roanoke. Follow the above businesses on Facebook, sign up for our e-newsletters and keep an eye on our events page to stay in the know. Should you decide to spend a little more time with us, lay your head down at The Inn at Joseph Decuis or the North End boutique hotel (they take the word boutique seriously - they have a well stocked women's clothing and accessory boutique on the ground floor).

Roanoke, we are head over heels in love with you!

The Trove

Mad for Plaid

As in fashion, home decor styles come and go. One season, painterly prints are the thing, only to be replaced by geometric prints the next. But there's one thing we know for sure: plaid prints never go out of style. And, as in fashion, plaid can be paired with traditional pieces but looks just as good when combined with a bit of glitz and glamour.

While technically, it may still be Summer, we can't help but look forward to the crisp Autumn air, pumpkin spice everything (maybe not everything) and cuddling up on the couch with loved ones. Enter Faribault Woolen Mill Company blankets. These classically stylish throws (in limited edition anniversary prints) perk up interiors and are made from the softest of soft lambs wool.

While we're sure you'll love these gorgeous throw blankets, swoop in to the The Trove now to snap yours up. The company only made 300 of these babies and we snagged 6 of them. If you're mad for plaid like we are, run, don't walk.

Talk Herby To Me

Skin is the body's largest organ. Thus, it's vital we take great care of it. We Trovesters believe skincare is best when it's as natural as possible while still being effective. While we've come across many skincare lines in our travels, we are especially impressed with Herbivore Botanicals. The range includes luxurious products, full of pure, highly concentrated, non-toxic ingredients. We'll be honest and say we also fell madly in love with the simply gorgeous packaging.

Indulge in the highest quality facial oils, sea salts that infuse bath water with nourishing and soothing minerals and an aprés sun hydrator for thirsty and overheated skin.

Restore vitality to skin with luxurious facial oils, formulated with beneficial vitamins and essential oils.

With lavender and eucalyptus essential oils as well as Cambrian Blue clay, the Detox Bath Salts help to clear body and mind.

Bamboo Charcoal and Pink Clay soaps cleanse as well as draw out impurities without stripping skin of moisture, for both face and body.

A hydrating facial mist is a must-have for supple, radiant skin and can be spritzed throughout the day, even over makeup. Body oils provide skin with advanced hydration and a subtle glow.

Stop by The Trove to test out these lovely skincare products for yourself!

Go Camping!

We Trovesters just live to travel. We explore high and low, near and far and we won't rest until we see all corners of this amazing planet. While some of our adventures are far flung, there's nothing quite like a little camping in the good old USA. Whether your idea of camping involves chopping wood and sleeping under the stars or not-quite-roughing it in a charming, rustic cabin with proper cocktailing accessories, we have the coolest and most stylish provisions for your outdoor exploits. And if you just want to decorate as if you're outdoorsy, we can help you with that too.

Come shop our selection of Izola pine scented pillows, Swell travel bottles and cool Esperos canvas backpacks.

A great many people, and more all the time, live their entire lives without ever once sleeping out under the stars.

Local honeys from Second Chance Farm

Trovester Kate Tomkinson, in addition to gracing the shop with amazing inventory you all know and love, is an experienced and accomplished backyard beekeeper, having started her career in 2009. Kate was the winning bidder on a package that provided her with all the accoutrement needed to get started, including a hive and beekeeper's suit. She took to it beautifully and has been producing sweet, golden honey ever since. Beekeeping is an involved and intricate business but one that Kate finds so rewarding. Every year she learns something new, encounters a new parasite or virus and has had varying degrees of success with her yield.

Kate's concern for the plight of our nation's bees was the driving force behind her winning bid. Between pesticides used in agriculture as well as ever increasing viruses, a greater focus and concern for the well being of the bee population is vital for our crops, thus our food supply. Bees are extremely important to our ecosystem and without them our fruits and vegetables would be in grave danger.

Due to the increasing availability of local and organic honeys at grocery stores, farmer's markets and farm stands, Kate decided to get inventive with her Second Chance Farm honeys. She combined her honey with cinnamon and balsamic vinegar, creating a delicious Balsamic Glaze that's thick and slightly sweet, great for Caprese salads, fish, meat and even ice cream! Kate's latest concoctions involve blending some of her husband's most treasured fine liquors to create Scotch Infused and Bourbon Infused honeys that have become wildly popular. Spread these honeys on toast or biscuits or drizzle into your tea. Don't worry --- the alcohol content in these amazing honeys is minimal.

All of Kate's Second Chance Farm honeys are sold at The Trove and are delicious treats for your own kitchen and make wonderful hostess gifts.

Aurora Borealis Designs

The simple things in life are sometimes the sweetest...a scoop of plain vanilla ice cream, the downy soft fur of a cuddly puppy or a walk on the beach, to name a few. The latter happens to serve as inspiration for designer Annie McFarlane, of Aurora Borealis Designs. Based in Leland, Michigan, McFarlane works in sterling silver, using found objects from her walks like Leland bluestones, Petoskey stones and luminous beach glass.

The collection is comprised of unique, organically shaped pieces, the final product informed by the stones themselves, which are "tumbled by nature, never by man!" McFarlane's passion for beautiful and charming Leland is evident in all her pieces, the process giving her a way to "capture a beach walk and release it into the designs."

The Aurora Borealis Designs studio is located on the Harbor in Leland and is a popular stop for those in search of an elegant memento of their time in the area. If there's a more stylish way to take the stunning beauty of the beach with you, no matter where you may roam, we haven't heard of it.

Come meet Annie McFarlane and view the latest Aurora Borealis Designs collection on May 9th from 11a to 5p. Linger a bit longer in Roanoke for the Style & Charm event, featuring special promotions from many area boutiques like Katharos Art & Gift, Rescued Relics and more.

Toast & Dragon Trunk Show

One of the things we love most at The Trove is introducing our customers to unique, handcrafted jewelry from talented artisans. We jump at the chance to throw trunk shows that enable us to offer not only even more amazing treasures but to host the passionate people behind the brands. This month, we're more than thrilled to present Toast & Dragon, by Boston-based fine jewelry designer, Denise Fenoglio.

Toast & Dragon celebrates the beauty of nature, conveyed via fine metals and gems, in organic shapes, colors and textures. Informed by her time living in France and her extensive European and Middle Eastern travels, along with her studies at the prestigious North Bennet Street School in Boston's historic North End, Fenoglio has created a gorgeous collection of feminine and expressive pieces. The designer chooses her materials from ethical and environmentally-sound sources and uses natural, non-enhanced precious and semi-precious gems in her designs. She finds inspiration for each one-of-a-kind piece from the stones themselves and looks to nature to inform the silhouette and final details.

Jewelry is more than just stylish adornment - it is deeply personal and can be a reflection of who we truly are. Along with treasured pieces from our jewelry boxes come stories about their origin, some passed down through generations. We hope you'll join us for this wonderful event with Denise and Toast & Dragon and perhaps add a new piece, and a new story, to your collection.

Meet Denise Fenoglio and experience Toast & Dragon on April 23rd from 1p to 8p, with wine and hors d'ouevres starting at 5p.

Spring Renewal

Springtime is all about renewal. Mother Nature comes out of hiding, making herself known by way of warm sunshine, budding flowers and chirping birds. In this spirit, we Trovesters are going through a renewal of our own. We're rebooting our blog so we can kick off Spring 2015 with fresh ideas and new perspectives. We have some exciting things planned and can't wait to share them with you, online and in store!
