Introducing the Trove Ambassadors

We've partnered with five dynamic, young and local ladies who adore style as much as we do. You might have seen them popping up in our social media feeds or even in store. Led by our marketing intern, Jessica Carroll, our Ambassador program is meant to provide inspiration and opportunity for them as well as for us Trovesters. We'll be regularly sharing their favorite things from our shelves as well as their perspective on style. This is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Anna Ekdahl

"I'm a junior at Homestead High School, a volunteer in the children's department at my church and love going out for dinner with loved ones. When I was younger, I lived in England for two years and traveled around Europe and Africa with my family! I'm loving all the beautiful pearl pieces in The Trove's jewelry department right now."

Grace Lehmann

"I'm a freshman at IPFW in Fort Wayne, transferring to study architecture at Ball State’s College of Architecture and Planning next Fall. Personal is about creating art within yourself. My style is just like my personality, all over the place! I'm especially into the collection of tops and blouses at The Trove right now. So many great, casual yet stylish looks."

Heather Nellum

"I'm graduating from Bishop Dwenger High School and will be attending IPFW in the Fall. I love being creative and having fun with my friends and family, as well as making others laugh and smile. My current fave from The Trove is Little Barn Apothecary's coffee and mint body scrub. It leaves your body feeling incredibly soft and moisturized and the scent is the perfect pick-me-up."

"I'm a Senior at Homestead High School, attending Ball State University in the Fall, to study Journalism and Marketing. I spend most of my time with a book in one hand and coffee in the other, but enjoy doing anything outside, spending time with friends hiking and exploring. My favorite product from The Trove is anything and everything POL - there isn't a piece I don't love."

Raegan McComb

"I'm a freshman at Ball State University, studying Telecommunications with a focus on video production. I have a passion for photography, hiking and generally spending time outdoors and I just can't get enough time with dogs. My favorite piece from The Trove is the amazingly soft Barefoot Dreams zip hoodie because it feels like I’m hugging a cloud when I wear it!"

The future looks bright!

Market Shenanigans

In our never-ending quest for the coolest merch in the land, we Trovesters trek all over the globe, often going for a divide and conquer method. This first quarter has seen Trovesters traveling to Atlanta, Las Vegas and Los Angeles for gift, home and makers markets. We're dedicated to stocking our store with unique and thoughtful goods, items not found in the big box stores or sitting on the shelves of other spots in town. While professional shopping sounds like one hell of a gig (it does have its charms), it can be stressful and sometimes grueling. We carefully create budgets, a physical plan of attack for the massive square footage of these markets and keep goals in mind for our specific departments. Then, we throw a good portion of that out the window on day one. Take a peek at some of our latest adventures in retailing:

Melani & Kate take Los Angeles

We came, we shopped, we drank. We cling hard and fast to our honed survival skills.

The scene can be overwhelming at times and eyes start to glaze over. This bright and fun collection of goodies grabbed our attention.

Of course, we take time for trips to farm markets and walks on the beach. We can't imagine visiting Cali without getting a little sand in our shoes.

Trovesters

As is tradition, we put our feet up at the end of the work day for much needed rest and relief. This is just one of the coping mechanisms we use in order to rally for dinner.

Refresh and Revamp for 2017

Late last year, we started making plans for a revamp of The Trove; a makeover, if you will. After a handful of years in business, we felt it was time to shake things up, move things around, clear some space and make room for new obsessions. We're doing this in the digital realm as well, but that's a story for another time.

We Trovesters have been busy bees this month, executing our carefully laid plans and coming up with new ideas on the fly. We've expanded our clothing category, given our fab selection of shoes a new, more shop-able display (look for a new outstanding summer line to be added here too!) and curated our massive jewelry selection into a dazzling array. Our ever-growing men's department, as well as our sweet and soft children's department, and our home and gift categories, received updates as well. Whew! 2017 is off to a very productive start.

Come shop the latest and greatest in clothing, accessories, home decor and gifts. And if you need extra incentive, we have two racks loaded with fantastic clothing at 50% off and a selection of shoes at 30% off!

You simply must come see us in #thenoke.

Chasing Slow

We Trovesters are head over heels in love with the oh so talented Erin Loechner. Her blog, Design for Mankind, has inspired us for years and now, she's given us a beautifully written book to obsess over.

Who could have known that more would make us feel like less?
— Erin Loechner

Chasing Slow is a must-read for anyone feeling even remotely crushed by the excesses of modern life. Loechner's account of her journey from more, more, more to Chasing Slow is a delightful and engaging read and we just can't say enough good things about it (or her, quite frankly).

Loechner is an Indiana girl who is sweet, generous, kind and incredibly talented, and we're especially proud to call her a friend. We wish her nothing but joy and success as she launches her first (and please, please, please, not her last) book.

We're beyond confident Chasing Slow is going to be the book of 2017.  We'll soon have autographed copies for sale at The Trove and sister store, The FIND, and a book signing party with Erin is in the works so stay tuned!

Sayonara 2016!

We Trovesters are a passionate bunch. We never have a lack of plans, dreams, goals and wishes, and we keep pretty busy chasing after them throughout the year. Here are just a few of the things kicking around in our heads as we rocket towards the new year...

My greatest wish is for 2017 to be politics-free. I know that’s not realistic but wishes don’t have to be, right?
— Mark
So many resolutions, so little time!

1. To give a compliment to someone new each day.
2. To strive for better eyebrows!
3. To stress less about my kids’ rooms.
4. To volunteer more.
5. To try something new in Fort Wayne each month.
6. To spend more quality time with the people I love.
— Leslie
My resolution for 2017 is to be more passionate and involved in issues that matter to me, not just random volunteering.
— Kate
My goals are to remain optimistic, to read more, to spend as much time taking care of myself as much as I take care of other people and to stay open to possibilities.
— Melani

Giving Thanks

We Trovesters are so excited for the tastiest of days, Thanksgiving! While we have a whole slate of festive shenanigans planned for this season, we always love to kick off the holidays by sharing some of our fondest memories, most favorite traditions and those highly anticipated, carb-heavy side dishes we can't wait to devour.

As a kid, we spent Thanksgiving at my Grandma and Grandpa Welker’s home. After the huge dinner that my grandma prepared all by herself, starting at 4 am, she would slip off for a nap. My dad and uncles would take the kids outside, no matter the weather, for some football. We would kick field goals over the most perfectly spaced limbs on a big tree in their front yard. I was the only girl in the bunch and I loved being part of that.
— Melani
Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday! I love the 5 am turkey bastings, our traditional morning run with those willing to brave my brother in law’s routes, my Dad’s famous Bloody Mary’s (obscene amounts of horseradish!), group food prep, snacking from sun up to sun down, my mom’s fab carrot cake and the lively dinner conversations (avoiding politics this year). And I’m always so thankful to spend it with family members who trek from the East Coast. Bring on the food coma!
— Leslie
Some of my traditions have changed through the years, but one of my most cherished memories was serving those less fortunate at Pine Street Inn, when I lived in Boston. When I moved to Fort Wayne, I gladly signed up to serve lunch for The Boys and Girls Club. Giving back to others is so important and I’m happy to do my part. In recent years, Thanksgiving finds me traveling abroad with my family. I’m so thankful to make new, enriching and meaningful memories with them while I can.
— Kate
My memories are of a classic Thanksgiving with my family, preparing and enjoying a very traditional menu. My mother’s stuffing is always perfect and my sister makes the most heavenly ginger cookies, topped with a pumpkin spread. I dream of their signature dishes year round. After we’ve eaten way too much, we set up my mother’s Christmas decorations, including her treasured nativity scene. It’s a lovely tradition we all adore, especially my mother.
— Mark

We wish you and yours a lovely day filled with good food, lots of laughter and gratitude.

- Melani, Leslie, Kate and Mark

Proud Trovesters

We Trovesters are proud to have assembled quite the creative team. From our initial group of partners, we've added bloggers, writers, photographers and a few Jills-of-all-trades. One of these creatives is the outstanding Demi Balogun. Full-time college student (she's working on a degree in Engineering), part-time blogger slash photographer slash marketer, Demi is a powerhouse and we couldn't be happier to have her on Team Trove. When you see a gorgeous image on our Instagram account, it's pretty safe to say Demi was the one behind the camera.

So, when Demi was tapped by Harper's Bazaar as one of this year's Fabulous at Every Age winners, we weren't surprised but we were awfully proud. We know there are so many great things in store for her because she's a beautiful person, inside and out.

Distinctive style transcends age,” stated Tracy Margolies, Chief Merchant, Saks Fifth Avenue. “Saks Fifth Avenue is proud to support an initiative which celebrates women who defy the sartorial norms of fashion and age, without compromise. Style is timeless, and we couldn’t be happier to honor the Fabulous at Every Age reader search’s beautiful winners.
